The Fight For Lives Sports Day, 28th July 2017 at the Boundary Lakes Hilton Ageas Bowl is lined up for the opening of the all new golf course. The first annual event to offer individuals the opportunity to play in a four ball fundraising tournament with a £10,000 hole in one competition and many other bonus  prizes such as beat the pro, longest drive and even the loudest shirt.

Following on we invite the players and guests to the ball room for a presentation, classic British dining, live music, charity fundraising auction and bouts of local charity boxing to complete an action packed day.

Fight For Lives supports a number of charities but for this particular golf – boxing event we will be looking to raise funds and exposure for the Greg Gilbert Cancer Campaign and Southampton Hospital Charity. Both are great local causes with close links to our events.

Greg Gilbert is known to many as the singer and guitarist of the band Delays and as an artist. To me, he is my fiancée, my joint adventurer through life but most importantly, the daddy to our two baby girls Dali (3) and Bay (1). He has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer that has spread to his lungs and to our horror has been told that the NHS is limited in what they can do to save him, so we need to look further afield. Aw a successful artist, Greg says; “My earliest memory is of drawing and art has remained a constant source of pleasure and solace throughout my life. Even now going through chemotherapy, it is proving to be a great comfort and helps me to articulate many complex and overwhelming emotions”
Greg has shown his work at the Royal Academy, Royal College of Art, London Science Museum, Pallant House and currently has a solo exhibit at Southampton City Gallery.

Football fundraiser at St Mary’s Stadium and after party at Southampton’s Grand Cafe to raise vital funds for Delays’ Greg Gilbert

On May 26, the Grand Cafe, in Terminus Terrace, we will be hosting a fundraising event where there will be entertainment, food and auctions.
The items being auctioned include a two-night hotel stay, two flights to the Isle of Wight, a champagne and canapé cruise as well as other luxury items.

The event will follow a football fundraiser which will take place earlier that day at St Mary’s stadium.
The mini tournament will feature four teams and a total of 60 players are set to take part. It kicks off at 2pm and finishes at 5.30pm.

Event organisers Fight For Lives are encouraging Hampshire residents to come to the tournament.
Attendees can purchase tickets on the gate for a minimum donation of £2 and children can watch the game for free.

We are always committed to support a cause or charity based in the area to every year at this event.
A fundamental part of our business is to support local causes and charities along with providing memorable experiences for those who participate in our events.
“We are committed to supporting Greg and his family not only at St Mary’s Stadium but also at other events throughout the year to help them achieve their fundraising target, further reinforcing our motto, ‘Stronger Together’.”

All the money raised from the day will go towards the father-of-two’s fundraising target of £250,000 – which will be used to pay for an alternative treatment that is not available on the NHS and maybe his only chance to see his two daughters Dali and Bay grow up.

Patients, staff and fundraisers have reached the £1 million mark in the campaign to create a new children’s emergency and trauma department at Southampton Children’s Hospital.
Clinicians at the Southampton Childrens HospitalThe £4.8 million project will see the development of a state-of-the-art eight-bed observation area, 11 glass-fronted and sound proof cubicles and on-hand x-ray facilities.
It will also include the creation of a reception, triage and waiting area for young patients, access to resuscitation facilities via a new link corridor, a nurse practitioner room and will incorporate the children’s assessment unit.
The new facility will be spread across more than 1,390m² and is expected to see more than 30,000 youngsters every year from across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Dorset, Devon, Wiltshire, Berkshire, West Sussex, Channel Islands and Oxfordshire.
To fund the project, Southampton Hospital Charity has partnered with The Murray Parish Trust (TMPT), a charity formed by actress Sarah Parish and her actor husband James Murray in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne, to raise £2 million.

To celebrate the achievement and thank supporters, the charities will lead an event in the shell of the new children’s emergency and trauma department this morning (Thursday) alongside campaign supporters including patients, clinicians and MPs.

We invite you to play at the all new championship golf course at Boundary Lakes Ageas Bowl. Join a four a ball or bring one along for 18 holes, 69 par, 5818 yards of Parkland with lakes.

Boundary Lakes is a beautiful par 69 parkland, featuring 4 major lakes. The course will test golfers of all abilities, with undulations running from the fairways to the greens. Course management is vital throughout all 18 holes. The 2nd is a particular highlight: a short par 3 with a narrow green protected by a lake, designed with inspiration from the 12th at Augusta.

Music artists team up for the Fight For Lives Cup at St Mary’s Stadium 26.05.17 in support local artist Greg Gilbert

The family of the lead singer of indie band Delays need to raise £100,000 for his cancer treatment.
Father-of-two Greg Gilbert, 39, from Southampton, has been diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer which has spread to his lungs.

Delays’ front man Greg Gilbert’s diagnosis with stage 4 bowel cancer at the age of just 39. His wife Stacey Heale has set up a crowd-funding campaign to help raise funds to find a potential life saving treatment not found on the NHS. To date, with the help of fans, friends, family and other musicians, the campaign has already raised over £150,000 of the £250,000 target.

His fiancée Stacey Heale said he needs to travel overseas to undergo urgent treatment which she claims is not available to him on the NHS.

The family’s crowdfunding page is hoping to raise £250,000.

Ms Heale said: “We have had the terrible news that Greg is genetically incompatible with the only free immunotherapy drug available on the NHS.
“Greg has begun his chemotherapy but we need money to be able to move quickly when this finishes in mid-March.”
Mr Gilbert and Ms Heale have two daughters aged three and one.
Ms Heale said the cancer was discovered after he suffered severe abdomen pains and vomiting which saw him admitted to hospital in October.

An X-ray revealed a cancerous blockage in his bowel.
She said he had previously been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.

Mr Gilbert said he felt “overwhelming love and positivity” following the appeal.
“I still haven’t absorbed it – the word ‘cancer’ has such an aura of fear around it… in one instant it happens and I find myself living in the moment.”

World famous bands such as Coldplay, The Maccabees and British Sea Power have donated signed merchandise and instruments for an online auction, as well as many fund-raising events like Cavalry featuring sets from Sam Duckworth, The Mystery Jets, Band of Skulls and Delays featuring Primal Screams’ Simone Marie.
